The Spirit of the Kingdom: A Night of Cambodian Craft, Cuisine, and Talents

Words by Chan Linda

In an era defined by a powerful surge of support for local craftsmanship and a growing sense of national pride, the atmosphere at The Warehouse TK on April 4th was nothing short of electric. We organized the Festive Tasting with a clear mission: to bridge the gap between Cambodia’s world-class creators and the public, offering the incredible talent and products currently flourishing in our town. From the first pour to the final beat, the evening was a celebration of what happens when tradition meets modern innovation.

The Masters of the Craft: Four Distilleries, One Vision

The heart of the event was our tasting lineup, featuring four distilleries that are putting Cambodia on the global spirits map:

Cambodia Local Distilleries Lineup

Samai: The Pioneers of Premium Rum
As Cambodia’s first premium rum distillery, Samai has a storied history of turning local sugarcane into liquid gold. Their Kampot Pepper Rum remains a global standout, a daring blend of sweetness and heat that captures the essence of the Kingdom’s most famous spice.

Seekers: The Botanical Explorers
Born from a passion for the Mekong’s biodiversity, Seekers has mastered the art of the "Mekong Dry Gin." Their commitment to using local botanicals like pandan, lemongrass, and kaffir lime creates a crisp, aromatic profile that feels like a walk through a tropical garden.

Mawsim: The Award-Winning Newcomer
Mawsim has quickly become synonymous with excellence, recently gaining international acclaim. A true masterclass in balance, Mawsim is notably innovative for utilizing Water Hyacinth (ដើមកំប្លោក) an invasive plant species in their production process, turning a natural challenge into a sophisticated gin deeply rooted in Khmer terroir.

To truly showcase these world-class spirits, the presentation was elevated by The Icemakers Kh. Their high-quality artisanal ice didn't just chill the drinks; it transformed the bottle presentations into a crystal-clear display of luxury.

A Culinary Elevation: Kravanh

A spirit is only as good as the food it’s paired with. To elevate the experience, we partnered with Kravanh, a restaurant legendary for its dedication to "Classic Cambodian Cuisine."

Kravanh Food Pairings

The Warehouse Pairing Insight

Kravanh doesn't just cook Khmer food; they curate it. The menu featured standout dishes that perfectly complemented the evening's spirits:

Sachko Ang: This grilled beef was a masterclass in texture and seasoning.
Traditional Sausage: Rich and savory, providing a perfect fatty balance to the crisp gin and rum profiles.
Mushroom Topping on Rice Crackers: A delightful vegetarian option where the earthy, umami-rich mushrooms met the light, airy crunch of the cracker.

By taking simple, traditional dishes and elevating them through high-quality sourcing and refined presentation, Kravanh proved why they were the ideal partner for our premium spirits.

House Music and Underground Beats

As the sun set, the volume rose. The vibe was curated by a lineup of DJs representing the future of Phnom Penh’s music scene:

DJs Thearo, AsianBoba, and MissWii

Thearo: A fresh and exciting new face in the scene. Fresh off his debut at Camcore (by AsianBoba), he proved exactly why he is "one to watch."

AsianBoba: Brought their signature strong musical identity, known for creating inclusive spaces and a distinct, curated sound.

MissWii: A legend of the underground scene, she closed the night with a seamless blend of House, Afrobeat, and Hip-Hop, transforming the tasting into a high-energy movement.

Why It Matters

Festive Tasting Crowd

This event was more than just a party; it was a showcase for business owners and the general public to see that "Made in Cambodia" is a badge of luxury and quality. By supporting these distilleries, chefs, and artists, we aren't just buying a product; we are investing in the cultural future of the Kingdom.
