Château Durfort-Vivens is a historic and highly respected estate in the Margaux appellation, famously classified as a 2ème Grand Cru Classé (Second Growth) in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Under the visionary leadership of Gonzague Lurton, the estate has undergone a magnificent renaissance, becoming the very first classified growth in Margaux to achieve 100% Biodynamic certification, completely redefining the purity and energy of its wines.
Durfort-Vivens is a brilliant expression of modern Margaux elegance, celebrated for its sky-high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate's deep gravel hillocks over clay-rich subsoils allow Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen to absolute perfection. Rather than masking this elite fruit with heavy new oak, the winery utilizes innovative aging techniques—including amphorae and terracotta jars—alongside traditional French oak. This results in a wine of spectacular aromatic lift, chiseled precision, and a silky, weightless texture that remains intensely concentrated without ever feeling heavy.
