Château Lafite Rothschild | Premier Grand Cru Classé 1855
The Expression of Aristocratic Finesse Château Lafite Rothschild is the benchmark for Pauillac and arguably the most famous wine label in the world. Dating back to 1234, this First Growth has long been favored by royalty and connoisseurs alike. It is a wine defined not by brute force, but by its extraordinary complexity and "lead-pencil" graphite signature. Grown on deep gravel ridges, Lafite is legendary for its ability to age for over half a century, slowly evolving into a tapestry of cedar and dark fruit.
Tasting Profile
Across all vintages, Lafite is recognized by its signature aromatic profile:
-
Aroma: A sophisticated "Lafite perfume" of pencil shavings (graphite), cedar wood, violets, and deep blackcurrant (cassis).
-
Palate: Remarkable for its "airy" concentration—it is intense but never heavy. The tannins are aristocratically firm yet polished, providing a structural backbone that feels like silk.
-
Finish: Laser-focused and exceptionally long, often finishing with a refreshing mineral snap and hints of tobacco leaf.
Merchant’s Note on Provenance

These bottles are part of our Exclusive Portfolio, maintained in our 100% temperature-controlled cold chain at a constant 16°C. From the port to our cellar, we guarantee that the delicate secondary aromas of these Pauillac masterpieces remain perfectly preserved.
Vintage Selection Notes
-
2006: A powerful, classic vintage. Now starting to enter its prime, showing beautiful notes of saddle leather, spice, and tobacco.
-
2011: Concentrated and brooding. This vintage shows a denser tannic structure with intense black fruits—a wine built for the long haul.
-
2012: Stylish and accessible. This vintage is known for its purity of fruit and elegant balance, currently drinking beautifully.
-
2013: A rare expression of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a lighter, traditional Pauillac that focuses on finesse and aromatic complexity over weight.
Pairing & Service
-
Classic Pairing: Best served with roasted rack of lamb, pan-seared duck breast, or slow-cooked venison.
-
Local Insight: The "cedar and spice" profile of Lafite is an incredible companion to high-end Grilled Beef with Kampot Pepper, where the wine’s minerality cuts through the richness of the meat.
-
Service: Best served in a large Bordeaux glass at 17–18°C. We recommend decanting for at least 2 hours to allow the aromatics to fully unfurl.
