La Chapelle de Bages is the superb Second Wine of the Cinquième Cru Classé Château Haut-Bages Libéral. This wine offers an immediate expression of Pauillac's deep, gravelly terroir and its classic, structured style. It is crafted with the same commitment to precision and sustainability as the Grand Vin, delivering the complexity, elegance, and power of the Médoc but built to be enjoyed in its younger, more vibrant years.
Color: A deep, intense ruby with brilliant purple reflections.
Aroma: A generous and focused bouquet of fresh blackcurrant, dry cherry, and soft tobacco leaf. Subtle notes of pencil shavings, graphite, and cedar spice signal its serious Pauillac pedigree.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied, structured, and beautifully balanced. The texture is elegant, supported by fine, silky tannins that provide definition and length. Flavors center on ripe red berries, cassis, and savory forest floor notes, leading to a long, clean, and classic finish.
This is a wine that delivers the luxury of a Grand Cru Classé for everyday premium dining, pairing beautifully with structured cuisine.
Pairing: An ideal companion for rich, flavorful meats. Pair it with slow-roasted duck, grilled lamb chops, or a flavorful, slow-cooked Khmer Kari Sach Ko (Beef Curry).
Serving: Decanting for one hour is recommended for younger vintages. Serve at 16–18°C (61–64°F) in Bordeaux glasses to fully appreciate its classic structure.
