This Pinotage aims to showcase the variety's potential for intrigue and complexity, moving beyond old stereotypes. Crafted from old, unirrigated bush vines in Stellenbosch's white clay soils, it emphasizes pure fruit expression and a lithe texture. The winemaking involves partial carbonic fermentation in large oak foudres and maturation in used, large-format barrels to let the fruit shine without aggressive tannins or new oak influence. It's a nod to Professor Abraham Perold, who created Pinotage, and a wink to the 'creature' he brought to life.
